I have a confession to make. Despite my interest in and writing about meditation, it has never become easy for me. I stop for long periods of time, because life gets busy. I have difficulty when I do sit down to meditate. Don't get me wrong; I meditate, and I enjoy it, and the tips I write about help me a lot, but still it's tough to be consistent. I may have found a solution, however.
Imagine easily entering into a deep and relaxing meditative state in just minutes. Would you like that ability today? Well that's what brainwave entrainment promises, and guess what? It works!

States Of Consciousness: The latter is the principle behind brainwave entrainment technologies. |
Several months ago I bought some brainwave entrainment CDs from The Centerpoint Research Institute. They call it "Holosync Technology." The very first time I put in their CD ("The Dive") I went into a deep state of meditation. The relaxing sound of rain is embedded with pulses and beats that bring you down to the alpha state, and then to the theta state (actually, I fell asleep for part of the session).
Several times I have had strange experiences while using the CDs. I don't know how to describe them, except to say that they were almost hallucinatory. The primary thing I get from the CDs so far, though, is the quick elimination of stress, and a much clearer mind afterwards.
I hope to experience all the benefits that others say they've had, from a much higher threshold for stress, to a sense of peace in general. I'll keep you updated in future issues. I can tell you this, though: I won't be returning the CDs, and I return a lot of products. I get more than enough out of them right now, and I intend to keep using them every day. In fact, I'm about to put on the headphones and pop in "The Dive," right after I finish this issue.
You can still get a free demo CD sent to you, with no obligation, using the link here: Centerpointe Holosync Audio Technology.
2008 Update: My wife and I have been using the CD's for years now, and we still like them. Ana says that they did seem to raise her threshhold for stress. I find them great for relaxing and clearing my mind.
There are other products that rely on brainwave entrainment to help you meditate, change habits and generally improve your mental functioning. In fact, I read an article today about five studies of the technology, and in all five, there was a measurable increase in the IQ scores of the users. The article didn't mention which products were used, but I'll report more as I research the topic. I'll also let you know about any other products I try.
A cheaper source of quality brain wave entrainment cds is Binaural Beats. Their newest product is called the "Worlds First Digital Drug." You can buy individual CDs for various purposes, and they start at around $30. If you have tried a brain wave entrainment product yet, because of the cost, check out Binaural Beats.

P.S. Sorry if this issue sounded too much like a sales pitch, but it isn't too often that I get to strongly recommend a product based on real results that I've experienced. I really like these CDs!
