A Meditation For A Great Day

The Meditation Newsletter

Try to see that it is already a great day before you do this meditation or any other. Practices like this are just a way to remind yourself of what a wonderful gift is the day and the things it brings. This one uses affirmations, much like the Meditation on Loving Kindness I presented in an earlier issue of the newsletter.

Find a quiet place, then sit comfortably and relax. Breath deeply through your nose, let your eyes begin to close, and when your mind quiets a bit, start repeating the following. You can do so aloud if it helps, but in your mind is fine too.

May I see the beauty around me today...

May I welcome each moment for the lessons it offers...

May I find common ground with everyone I meet...

May I act from my deepest and truest self...

May I see that I am at home in each place and moment...

Try to sense the beauty around you as you repeat these affirmations, even if your eyes are closed. Imagine yourself facing anything you encounter as a priceless and welcome lesson. See the goodness in each person that comes to mind. Let your surface "personality" and it's reactions fall away. Recognize that home is a state of mind, and a choice.

Don't try too hard to do these things. Just repeat the affirmations and as thoughts or images arise guide them in these directions. Continue in this way for fifteen or twenty minutes. In general, meditations like these work best if they are used regularly for a period of several weeks. This gives the affirmations time to sink in and affect your consciousness.

Also, although you start with this method as a meditation, once you can easily recall and recite the words, you can use them as an exercise while driving or going about your day.

I've found that this kind of meditation works well with meditation CDs or MP3 recordings. The brainwave entrainment effect makes it easy to slip into a meditative state without so much attention given to your breathing. That makes it easier to concentrate on the repetitions of the affirmations.

The commission is not why I recommend the following (I love this program):

Steve's Recommendation:

The Meditation Program

Perhaps one of the most cutting-edge brainwave tools available today, the eight levels of this program take you from the beginner level (mid-Alpha) right through to super-advanced (mid-Delta).

If you get the MP3 downloads (CDs are available too) you might want to skip the "Registration Backup Service," which covers you if you lose the files, and just put an extra copy somewhere in your computer. But either way, this is one of the best products I have used. - Steve
