Spiritual Poems

Some spiritual poems point clearly at some truth. Others are more enigmatic, causing you to investigate an idea more closely to find your own truth. Still others are an expression of peace and love, and can encourage you to relax and be at peace. Here is a collection of some of my favorite spiritual poems.

Bible Poetry : The Christian Bible is full of poetry. Here is an example of one of the most beautiful and poetic passages.

Taoist Poetry : Most of the Tao Te Ching can be considered Taoist poetry. Even individual lines sound poetic: "When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you." This page has one of my favorite examples of a spiritual poem by Lao Tzu.

Do Not Believe In God : A poem about the the knowing of the universal versus the belief in it.

Wordless Gratitude Prayer : "And words fail... As they should..." Some would argue that simple gratitude is the most important spiritual practice.

A Child God : The poem starts "God is but a child... Playing with insects." It reflects the God we have created and the possibility of his maturity.

Lake Superior : Lake Superior was the inspiration for this spiritual poem about the superiority of experience over belief.

More Spiritual Poetry : A few more examples of spiritual poems, form Kabir, Rumi, and an intriguing poem from an anonymous author.
